SHOWCASE / PHOTOGRAPHY & DESIGN

From a considered portrait to a finished set.

Refine the portrait, tidy a selected detail, make room for the composition and deliver the right versions with clear access.

Prepare the sources and agree on the result

Begin with the best available original portrait, permission to edit and a brief that describes the intended result. Ask for the actual final placements: a profile image, an editorial layout and a banner may need different crops. Keep the untouched original and name the working copy clearly.

Agree on the level of retouching. A small shape adjustment and a colour change should support the subject and composition rather than turn an approximate preview into an unreviewed final. Check for sensitive client information in filenames, embedded notes and material included with the portrait.

Bring these inputs

  • The original portrait and permission to edit it
  • A short, specific retouching brief
  • The required final sizes and file formats

1. Figur: refine without losing the whole picture

Open the portrait in Figur and make small, deliberate adjustments. Compare the whole image with its original after each meaningful change. Look at the background as well as the subject: straight lines and repeating patterns can reveal an adjustment that seemed subtle at a close zoom.

Save the project under the intended account and export a working image only after reviewing the complete frame. Keep the original separately. The exported file becomes the explicit input for the next app; it does not carry an editable Figur workspace into Repaint.

2. Repaint: work on the detail that needs attention

Import that working image into Repaint. Choose the object or region to change, then refine its boundary with the deterministic selection tools. Inspect hair, edges, shadows and small gaps at a useful zoom before applying colour, opacity or placement changes.

Use Compare to assess the result against the source. If moving or deleting a region leaves an area to repair, inspect the fill and use manual repair where needed. Local AI controls labelled Coming soon are not required for this workflow. Export a checked intermediate with a new version name.

3. Outpaint: prepare the composition for its destination

Bring the intermediate into Outpaint and set only the extra canvas needed for the destination. Independent edge controls help keep the subject in place while making room for a headline or different crop. Choose an appropriate deterministic fill and inspect the boundary between the original and extension.

Check the extended background for repeated details and visible seams. Keep a transparent export only where the destination supports transparency. Make a separate version for each required ratio rather than stretching the same finished image into every placement.

4. Dowe: deliver the approved set

Upload the final versions to Dowe and label them by intended use, dimensions and approval version. Build a board containing the approved set, not every intermediate. Keep the original portrait, editable project files and private client notes in the working library.

Review the board snapshot and sharing controls before sending the link. Allow downloads only when the recipient needs the source files. If a later review changes the selected images, issue a new checked share instead of assuming an existing published board follows the working board.

Review the actual delivery

Review the portrait at full size and in its real destination crop. Check skin tone, edge quality, background alignment and subject proportions. Compare all delivered versions side by side so a banner edit does not accidentally receive different colour treatment from the profile version.

Open the exported files in another viewer. Confirm pixel dimensions, orientation, transparency and a recognisable filename. Ask for approval against that actual delivery set, then keep the approval note with the version it refers to.

The finished set

  • A checked portrait edit
  • Versions framed for the intended placements
  • A curated delivery board with original sources kept separate

Keep access and costs deliberate

This recipe uses explicit image exports and deterministic editing tools; it does not promise remote generative editing or enabled local AI. Review cost information on any paid action separately. Storage limits and device processing limits apply even when an edit itself is free.

A portrait can identify a person. Use the minimum necessary sources, obtain the appropriate permissions and consider the audience of a shared link. Avoid including private working notes or extra subjects in the delivery board.

Revise the right step and keep a recovery copy

Return to the relevant saved project when a change is needed. Repeatedly editing compressed exports can make recovery harder, so retain each app’s working project and the untouched original. If an intermediate is wrong, replace it deliberately and recheck the later steps that depend on it.

If the wrong portrait is shared, revoke the link and issue the correct set. Previously downloaded copies cannot be recalled. Keep an independent backup and agree with the client on how long you retain private sources.

Make your version of this workflow

Start with a small, representative set of your own sources. Complete one checked handoff before expanding the batch. Keep the output from each app clearly named so you can return to the right project when something changes.
